PROJECT 3021
With a brief to bring this kitchen out of the 70’s and into the 21st century, Project 3021 plays carefully with the balance of history & modernism. Taking cues from the existing arches, curves and double brick walls, the new kitchen embraces what was and what could be.
Taking inspiration from Scandinavian design, the new kitchen houses beautiful timber flooring and hints of timber features throughout the kitchen as it brings a sense of softness and warmth to balance the white stone & walls. The subtle nature of the curved wall nods back to the original architecture and creates the perfect canvas for the light play that comes from the addition of a large kitchen window. The merging of two spaces (laundry & kitchen) allows for the integration of a butler’s pantry and a European style laundry, resulting in an increase of storage and bench space.
All gestures both architecturally and spatially reflect the way the owners live and function. This kitchen albeit small but mighty will become the heart of the home to entertain and gather for a growing family.
